3D Shapes and Nets

3D shapes have length, width, AND height. They take up space in the real world - unlike flat 2D shapes.

A cube has 6 faces, 12 edges, and 8 vertices. A dice is a perfect cube!

A net is what a 3D shape looks like when you unfold it flat. You can fold a net to make the 3D shape.

Euler's formula: For any polyhedron, faces + vertices - edges = 2. Try it with a cube: 6 + 8 - 12 = 2!

💡 Examples

Cube:6 faces, 12 edges, 8 vertices
Triangular prism:5 faces, 9 edges, 6 vertices (like a Toblerone box!)
Sphere:1 curved face, 0 edges, 0 vertices (like a football)
