Mean, Median, and Mode
Averages help us understand what's 'typical' in a set of numbers. There are three types!
Mean: Add up all the numbers, then divide by how many there are. If your test scores are 7, 8, 9, 6, 10, the mean is (7+8+9+6+10) / 5 = 8.
Median: Put the numbers in order and find the middle one. For 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 the median is 7.
Mode: The number that appears most often. In 2, 3, 3, 5, 7, the mode is 3 because it appears twice.
💡 Examples
Mean of 4, 6, 8:(4+6+8) / 3 = 6
Median of 1, 3, 7, 9, 12:Middle number = 7
Mode of 5, 5, 3, 8, 5, 2:5 (appears 3 times)
